Do It Now
Do it now. Do it now. Do it now.
A lot of my anxiety would be relieved if I appended this phrase at the end of each of my thoughts, and acted on it.
“I really need to finish this task for work …” Do it now.
“I’ve been meaning to text my friend back about …” Do it now.
“I’ve been thinking of starting that new hobby …” Do it now.
I fall into the trap of feeling that the thought matters at all. It doesn’t. If I think about it, but I do nothing about it, the time (and energy) spent processing the thought was wasted. Even worse, the thought lingers subconsciously, spreading a virus of unfulfilled intentions.
Do it now. Drop everything and do it now. There is no better time.
